The Gold Corner was
established in 1994 by Ty Sober.
Ty grew up in the jewelry
business. His parents owned and operated Sober's Jewelry in Wellington for 35
years. In 1984, Ty attended the
Gemological Institute of America in California where he became a GIA graduate
gemologist. In 1985, he continued obtaining his GIA jewelry manufacturing arts
diploma. After graduation he stayed in California for about ten years and
worked for two different jewelers.
Finley's Jewelry in Rolling Hills is where
he worked with the LA sports figures such as the Kings hockey
players Wayne Gretsky and Marty McSorley. At Altobelli Jewelry in
North Hollywood he worked with the movie industry creating props for movies like "Hook", "The Shadow", and "Days of
Thunder"
He moved back to Wellington in 1994 and opened The Gold Corner in friendly competition with
Sober's Jewelry. In 2003, he completed the Gemvision Design Software Training
with continuing Matrix Cad training in 2004 - 2008. In 2000, The Gold Corner was one of the first in Kansas to utilize a laser welder in repair and manufacturing. This allows Ty to do a lot of repairs that other jewelers can't do.
The Gold Corner offers a variety of jewelry and gifts as well as on-site jewelry repair. Ty specializes in custom design and has the latest technology that allows him to create the jewelry that you desire.
